Exchange rates

Your customers always pay in your wallet currency. Your providers may bill you in another one: a Turkish panel bills in TRY, many international panels bill in USD. Before your margin is added, each provider’s cost is converted into your wallet currency with an exchange rate you set.

Open Pricing → Exchange rates. You’ll see one row for every currency your providers bill in that isn’t your wallet currency, with the providers that use it.

  1. Choose which way you’re entering the rate. For a TRY panel and a USD wallet, both of these mean the same thing:
    • 1 TRY = … USD, e.g. 0.0292
    • 1 USD = … TRY, e.g. 34.25
  2. Type the rate. A dot or a comma both work as the decimal separator (34.25 or 34,25).
  3. Press Save rate.

The row then shows the current rate both ways and when it was last changed.

If every provider bills in your wallet currency, there’s nothing to set. You’ll see a note saying no exchange rate is needed.

A service whose provider bills in another currency can’t be priced or sold until its rate exists. Nothing is guessed. You’ll see it in three places:

  • Providers: the currency column links to the missing rate.
  • Services: the price column says which rate is missing.
  • Your store: the service isn’t orderable.

A new rate changes what every service from those providers costs you, so it’s treated exactly like a provider changing its prices:

  • Services without a price yet get their first price.
  • Fixed mode keeps the current price.
  • Hybrid mode applies small changes right away and sends large ones to Prices pending approval.

Saving the same rate again changes nothing.

Every order records the provider’s cost and the exchange rate used at the moment it was placed. Changing a rate later never changes what an earlier order cost you or charged your customer.

You can only change your wallet currency before your first customer wallet exists (see Wallet currency). When you do, every catalog price is worked out again in the new currency. Services that now need a rate stay unpriced until you set one.

Rates are entered by hand for now. Automatic exchange-rate updates are planned for a later version.
